Course Description
Learn about the Goddess Lakshmi’s eight forms of wealth, called Ashtalakshmis, and transcend mere monetary wealth for higher forms of wealth like primordial or spiritual wealth. Discover how we can increase these eight kinds of wealth in our lives using 10 principles of abundant living. Wayne and Julie show how the Ashtalakshmis and 10 principles interrelate and focus on two important principles of abundant living: gratitude and tithing or charity, and how to use them effectively for best results. Each of the Ashtalakshmis and two principles has one or more techniques to develop them, and these are given or discussed. The goal of this course is to enable participants to eventually experience great good fortune (Mahalakshmi) in their lives.

Meet Your Instructors

Julie Purdin has been studying New Age esoteric teachings since her young adult years. She read the Rosicrucian books on Edgar Cayce and was initiated into Transcendental Meditation in the mid-1970s. Then in December of 1979, she attended the Harpstrings of Lemuria conference, after which she attended Summit University. She served on staff at the Chicago Teaching Center for a while then moved to Bozeman, Montana to finish her degree in Art Education. She also spent several years as an award-winning thespian actress in various theater groups. 

She spent 18 years as an art teacher for students from kindergarten through high school. Julie has always instilled in her students the spiritual upliftment in the creation and productivity that art and performing arts can inspire. They have always won many first-place and best-of-show ribbons. She met Wayne at the Bozeman Teaching Center in 1991, and they were soon married and have raised two amazing and incredibly spiritual daughters. At the Bozeman Teaching Center, she directed several spiritual plays with the Sunday School youths. She and Wayne joined The Hearts Center in 2006, and she directed the youth program at several summer conferences. Julie also was initiated into Shakti Meditation by Ananda Ma.

Wayne Purdin is a curriculum editor for Grand Canyon Education (GCE), prolific author, and spiritual teacher. His works, found at waynepurdin.com, include spiritual self-help books, wholesome and inspiring romance novels, children’s stories, and thought- provoking blogs, distilled from over 55 years of experience on the spiritual path. He was a member of a Gurdjieffian esoteric school in 1970, a teacher of Transcendental Meditation for 9 years, and spent 42 years studying ascended-master teachings. Through the techniques of meditation, sun yoga, good diet, and crystals, he healed himself of leukemia. Since 2005, he has promoted the solar teachings of Hira Ratan Manek and Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov.  

He has taught eight professional development courses at GCE and lectured on Frank L. Baum and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz at the Phoenix Theosophical Society. He has taught five Meru University courses since 2010. He produced the popular video Beyond 2012: A Vision of the Golden Crystal Age of Aquarius and was interviewed by Jack Stafford on the Mysticast show at https://youtu.be/qlG8CCrqO08. He found Ananda Ma Vdovic and Shakti Yoga in the Spring of 2021, was initiated into Shakti Meditation, and attended an advanced meditation course in Bilo, Croatia in the summer of 2023, during which he was trained to become a Shakti Meditation teacher. His most recent books include Wellness: 10 Keys to Self-Healing and The Way of Mahalakshmi: 10 Principles of Abundant Living, which will be the basis of his next Meru University course. He is currently writing a book on near-death experiences, and coauthoring Parabhakti Yoga: The High Way to Enlightenment with Ananda Ma. He lives in Safford, Arizona with his wife Julie at the base of Mount Graham and just around the corner from Essence of Tranquility Hot Springs Resort. In addition to this course, Wayne has taught the following other courses for Meru University.
